My Musical Journey

Tabla, Indian Percussion Intrument

"The tabla speaks a language older than words — every stroke tells a story."

The tabla is a classical percussion instrument from the Indian subcontinent, consisting of two hand drums played together — the smaller dayan (right drum) tuned to a specific pitch, and the larger bayan (left drum) that produces deep, resonant bass tones. With origins tracing back to the 13th century, the tabla is central to Hindustani classical music and is celebrated for its extraordinary tonal range and rhythmic complexity. Played with the fingertips, palms, and heels of the hands, it can produce an astonishing variety of sounds, from crisp high notes to rich, melodic booms. Maestros like Zakir Hussain have brought the tabla to global stages, making it one of the most expressive and beloved instruments in the world.

I  am learning Table since 8 years of  age. The video uploaded here is my submission to National Musical
Instruments contest Ajivasan.
